Elliot Cox may only be 6 years old, but he has big dreams to one day be the youngest winner of the Indy 500.
"He said God made him to be a race car driver and I guess who am I to argue with that," his mom Amanda Cox said.
Cox’s goals extend beyond the track. He sports an Alex’s Lemonade Stand sticker on his car and trailer. The organization allows kids to help raise funds to combat childhood cancer.
"There was a little boy at Elliot’s school that we don’t even know. They sent home boxes raising money for his family and he had cancer," Amanda Cox said. "Elliot came home and told us that he wanted to give all the money in his piggy bank. He said, 'he needs the money more than I do.'"
With the help of his friends, Cox had his first successful lemonade stand at Whiteland Raceway Park where he practices.
"He said 'why don’t we see if we can do it at the Indy 500 track,' but we didn’t think it would happen," Amanda Cox said.
But it did happen. After just a few emails, Elliot was invited to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway to serve his Lemonade at the Graham Rahal Foundation Drivers Tournament.
He served cups of lemonade for $50 to $100. His parents said he had already raised $1,200 so far at the golf tournament and he was invited to speak at the luncheon with IndyCar driver Graham Rahal.
